Reaching Higher Ground
Norfolk County’s newest meeting place, performance, and event space is also one of its most historic. Richard’s Hall is the former Vittoria Baptist Church sanctuary, repurposed to host concerts, meetings, exhibitions, film, weddings, and more. If you have your own ideas of how to use this beautiful space, we’d love to hear them. Subject to COVID restrictions.
The church was built in 1852 to house a congregation established in 1799. Before its cessation, it was the oldest Baptist church in Ontario or Quebec, and the oldest church of any denomination in Norfolk County.
Many of the church’s historical features have been preserved, including its original stained glass windows, beautiful staircase, pulpit, and many significant architectural features.
Prior to the church, the site was home to Vittoria’s courthouse, which was constructed while Vittoria was the judicial capital of the London District of Upper Canada (1815-1825).
